A Legacy Of Enchanting Melodies

Richard Sherman, Disney Legend and Songwriter, Passes Away

A Legacy of Enchanting Melodies

For generations, the songs of Richard Sherman have transported audiences to magical worlds and filled their hearts with joy. The legendary songwriter, who passed away recently at the age of 84, leaves behind a beloved body of work that will continue to inspire and entertain for years to come.

From Manhattan to Hollywood

Born in Manhattan in 1928, Sherman developed a passion for music from a young age. His father, Al Sherman, was a successful Broadway songwriter, and his mother, Rosalind, was a talented musician. The family moved frequently, but Sherman's love of music remained constant. After serving in the military during World War II, Sherman returned home and began to collaborate with his older brother, Robert. Together, they wrote songs for such classic films as "Mary Poppins," "The Jungle Book," and "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang."
